spice that has been cultivated in South India for thousands of years, and
related to ginger, used as a fresh vegetable in Indian cookery.
Turmeric is noted for its medicinal properties and special use in Indian
festivities. Like Saffron, the golden hue makes it Auspicious, a harbinger of good fortune.
